However, one of the things we did this year is take them outside. We used them to collect nature items outside for our tree study. Each child took a stack outside and placed a piece of nature in between two magnatiles. They were able to hold it up to the sun and look at it. Then we brought the stack inside with the items and they were able to look at them with magnifying glasses in the classroom. It may seem small, but providing daily snacks has had a major impact on my students' ability to focus, learn, and feel cared for. Many of my students come to school without having had a full breakfast, and by mid-morning, hunger becomes a real barrier to learning. With snacks now available, I've seen a noticeable difference in their energy levels, engagement, and even their moods.\r\n\r\nStudents are better able to concentrate during lessons and complete their work without the distraction of hunger. Behavior issues have decreased, and we've even used snack time as a way to build community—sharing, talking, and connecting over a healthy bite.
