I cannot thank my donors enough for their generosity and forward-thinking in helping me to integrate this incredible tool into my teaching repertoire! \r\n\r\nThe first direction I took after unpacking the Bambu printer was to find some 3D print files of authentic historical objects that have been 3D scanned by museums. We cover a lot of topics in Social Studies, but the photos I submitted show printed artifacts from prehistory, Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient India thus far. Being able to pass these objects around the classroom (without worrying about breaking a priceless artifact!) has been impactful and has led to students discussing these time periods on a deeper and more personal level. Many students these days are tactile learners, and I have heard time and time again that they understand the lessons better because they were able to actually \"touch history.\"\r\n\r\nStudents have also been able to show their learning in more creative and individualized ways, as I now include TinkerCAD as an option to create a product about the topic we are studying. Many students have taken the opportunity to learn how to design in 3D, and then I have printed their projects. They have designed inventions, historical artifacts, and more...and we are excited to see where the students' creativity might lead next. \r\n\r\nOne new type of lesson that the Bambu printer allowed us to accomplish was when we studied games that kids play around the world (and throughout history). Students researched how amazingly similar many games are, as well as game components. I was able to find a 3D file of the 4,600 year-old Ancient Egyptian \"Senet\" game board and pieces, and after manually coloring the parts in the Bambu software, printed the entire set in one session in glorious full color! I also printed some \"knucklebones\" that humans have used as gambling dice for thousands of years. It was so rewarding to watch students engage and connect with history, and they constantly keep asking to play the games again any time we have a free moment!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support in helping me to further expand STEAM into Social Studies. In addition to the other AR, VR, and AI technology tools I integrate, the new Bambu 3D printer has added a tactile and engineering-based option for students to show mastery in their learning. We are excited to see what the future holds with this new technology available in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1759493791343,"projectUrl":"project/making-history-hands-on-with-stem/9734570/","projectTitle":"Making History Hands-On With STEM!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Haak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp143313_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y235&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758744714672","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/143313"},{"teacherId":9796527,"projectId":9993792,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my Decision Day project this year. They had the opportunity to enter to win one of the prizes, and most students entered for these specific items. I think they were excited by the opportunity to win items that would help support their lives after high school.\n\nThank you again for your generosity and for making this possible. I put the Keurig in the window of my office, and the kids are so excited for the drawing. We have already had 17 seniors submit at least one college application (just over 30% of the senior class)! We have also had many students attending college representative visits and signing up for campus tours. I'm excited to see how many tickets they can earn before our drawing in late November/early December.\r\n\r\nThe Keurig has also sparked some great conversations with younger students as well. Younger kids (6th-8th grades) frequently ask about what the Keurig is for and which colleges or careers they are interested in.\r\n\r\nI've promoted the Keurig and Cocoa giveaway using social media, flyers, and announcements. I am positive the Keurig is giving our students the boost they need to begin thinking about their futures!
