Following this reporting system has streamlined my ability to keep progress in all of my English classes current. And, of course, the timely feedback for students impacts how they show up prepared and ready to learn each day. Everything about the system is positive!\r\n\r\nStudents love to share when they accomplish a Writer's Notebook Assignment and finally turn it in. \r\n\r\n \"I turned in my writing, Mrs. Bergquist, and left you a note. Will you be able to \r\n grade it today?\" \r\n\r\nInteractions like these not only build good communication skills, they build lasting connections and relationships. Often times, the simple things make the biggest difference. \r\n\r\nDonating the sticky notes, utensil carousel, and fun scratch cards, along with other fun items engaged students in another mode of communication that made a big difference. Each week we offer a craft session and it always fills up with students; giving them a break from their phone and the pressure of academics. They are able to just relax and show their amazing talents in a non-threatening and informal environment. \r\nStudents have enjoyed using paint, beads, canvases, wood crafts and making small gifts and holiday ornaments. They are also looking forward to our spring activities when we will be creating string art, making key chains and pouring resin with found objects from our beautiful beaches and lakes. It is always so fun to see the diverse approach they take with the materials. \r\nThank you so much for supporting the creativity of my students. The students look forward to the weekly craft class and so do I. I love seeing how when given raw materials they each approach it in their own way and come up with something unique and beautiful!!
