This project impacted each of them in so many different ways. At the start of the year the students in my Life Skills class improve their math and reading skills by investigating Michigan based products and Michigan entrepreneurs. We read about unique products, interviewed students and staff and then graphed, graphed, graphed!! It was a great hands-on way to be proud of our state and use newly acquired academic skills.\r\nFor the second portion of the grant we teamed up with the STEM class and local artists to access our creative side. Students took each product to a new level and created beautiful Michigan themed works of art. The creativity and academic growth was a success. The students raved about having the opportunity to be creative and look forward to our final project in the spring where we will visit the \"Mighty Mac\" and use this information to build our own versions of suspension bridges. \r\nAgain, I cannot thank you enough for supporting our students.\r\n\"If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you.\" Following these activities our students now have a greater appreciation of all that the Great Lakes State has to offer and without your support it would not be possible","fullyFundedDate":1728506605880,"projectUrl":"project/students-say-yes-to-academics-art-and/8790982/","projectTitle":"Students Say Yes To Academics, Art and Peer Mentoring!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5933040_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1639138206862","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5933040"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66981","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":322,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.2,"schoolId":66981,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Jordan Middle High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Jordan Middle High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/east-jordan-public-school-district/east-jordan-high-school/66981"}
