Reading plays an important part in accessing everyday functional life. Even students who read below their grade level want to read a good story and want to improve their reading skills so that they are better able to access information presented in written format. High-interest low reading level books will allow the students in my Life Skills classroom to read independently. The mystery series will allow the students to follow age appropriate characters through different and will be the foundation of the language arts instruction first semester in Life Skills English. Each novel features a first grade reading level, sight words, word list and challenging word lists. It won't be a mystery when the students in my Life Skills English are engaged and show improvement with their reading skills!!
