The children and I were so excited opening each new item and eagerly discussed how the manipulatives would be used. \r\nOver the next few weeks, the new items were introduced and explored. Some materials like the color sorting animals were incorporated into our sensory table, where children used the tweezers to place the animals into bowls. Other materials, like the pet, fruit, and people counters were used during small group times to create quantities, sort by a variety of attributes, or demonstrate counting. \r\nThe ice cream cone bucket has been a big hit! The students love stacking the scoops to match numeral to quantity, create patterns, or stack by color. They have done this as a quiet morning bin activity, used them during dramatic play, and even taken them into the block center where they built a block \"freezer\" around them to \"keep them cold\", haha!\r\nHaving the button sorting box as both a large and small group task has allowed me to teach, and assess sorting by attribute in a playful, yet meaningful way. The students enjoyed talking as a group about the similarities and differences between the buttons, and the \"best\" way(s) to group them. \r\nThe counting boxes and number popsicles have been a welcome addition to our math discovery center. Several times a week children choose to use these items during their free play time. As they pretend to be pirates they are counting out coins and matching them to the treasure boxes. The fish are popular not just for counting, but for sorting as well, when they play \"pet shop.\"\r\nI could go on and on with the multitude of ways we are using our new math supplies in our classroom! The wonderful thing about these materials is their versatility and durability. They are high quality products that will I will be able to use with my students every year, and I am so grateful. Having these manipulatives in my classroom has elevated the level of meaningful play and learning for my students in a way that I would not have been able to do otherwise. \r\nYour generosity is impacting the next generation of learners and we thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1764604241784,"projectUrl":"project/preschool-math-materials/9932545/","projectTitle":"Preschool Math Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sidlauskas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10362981_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764537900176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10362981"},{"teacherId":10374389,"projectId":9944883,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom.Your donation has truly made a meaningful impact on my students, and their excitement was evident from the very moment the materials arrived. As soon as they saw the new items, they eagerly began exploring and incorporating them into their daily learning activities.\r\n\r\nThe block play people have completely transformed our block area. By adding these figures, students are now able to blend construction play with dramatic play, creating rich storylines and imaginative scenarios. This has encouraged collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills as students work together to build structures and act out real-world experiences. It has been wonderful to see their creativity flourish in new and meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThe magnet blocks and fine motor jars have quickly become favorites during tabletop activities and are especially helpful during transitional times, such as when some students finish lunch earlier than others.
