The kiln is an essential part of our art department, for without it we are unable to create any pottery projects. All of our children, from kindergarten through high school, get to participate in pottery projects and these are favorites each year. \r\n\r\nThis year our first theme was \"Things that Fly.\" Every grade made birds, bugs, dragons or bats with their pottery. Students loved customizing their sculptures and we had some very unique dragons, birds, and dragonflies! \r\n\r\nStudents have learned that there is a waiting period while the clay dries and goes through the first fire. Then they experience the joy of choosing colorful glazes to create brilliant finishes on their pottery. This year we added crystal gems glazes for additional variation during the glaze process. \r\n\r\nIn the spring our project themes focus on flowers for Mother's Day gifts. Last year each grade created a different flower, which included sunflowers, calla lilies, roses and more. I know that moms loved these gifts. \r\n\r\nThanks to each of you, our students can continue to grow in their pottery skills and share their creations with families and friends. You are the most awesome group of supporters that we could ever hope for!","fullyFundedDate":1738551489800,"projectUrl":"project/kiln-and-shelving-for-pottery-projects/8935953/","projectTitle":"Kiln and Shelving for Pottery Projects, All Grades","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harrison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8689389"},{"teacherId":1572660,"projectId":8958043,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our technology program! The generous donations we received from our last project allowed us to create this second request and fulfill the entirety of our order by funding it with the additional funding we were gifted. These purchases allowed us to purchase items in preparation for upcoming projects.\r\n\r\nWe were able to purchase wood keychains so that our Technology 1 students can laser burn custom designs they create in Photoshop onto a tangible item that they can take home. We were also able to purchase unfinished wood slices for laser burning custom holiday ornaments. Additionally, we purchased two tripods and two wireless microphones for future film projects. \r\n\r\nFor Technology 3 students, we were able to purchase specialized filament for 3d printing projects that will be completed by January, as those students are working on advanced projects throughout the 9-week marking period. These resources have allowed those students to design 3d models from scratch that, when printed, will match the vision and application purposes intended by the students.\r\n\r\nAll of this would not be possible without your support and generosity as a community.
