Your support has provided me with the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of the Science of Reading and strengthen my ability to help every student become a confident reader.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of the training is learning a speech-to-print approach to literacy instruction. Instead of asking students to memorize reading patterns, this approach teaches children to begin with the sounds they hear in spoken words and connect those sounds to the letters and letter combinations that represent them. It is a logical, research-based way to teach reading and spelling that helps students build lasting understanding.\r\n\r\nAlthough I am just beginning the course, I have already started incorporating this approach into my summer tutoring sessions. It has been exciting to see students become more confident as they analyze the sounds in words and use those sounds to decode and spell, rather than relying on memorization alone. Watching these early successes has reinforced how valuable this training will be for my first-grade classroom this fall.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights of the training has been how practical and immediately applicable it is. Every lesson provides strategies that I can use right away, giving me the tools to better support all learners, especially those who need more explicit reading instruction.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my professional growth and, most importantly, in my students. Your generosity is already making a difference, and I look forward to bringing everything I learn into my classroom this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1778539697726,"projectUrl":"project/building-strong-readers-through-ebli-tra/10101765/","projectTitle":"Building Strong Readers Through EBLI Training","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whiteley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9823679_orig.jpg?crop=296,296,x0,y25&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730500428433","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9823679"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60535","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":357,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":44,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":53.3,"schoolId":60535,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Edgartown School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Edgartown School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/supervisory-union-19/edgartown-school/60535"}
