The flexible seating options such as the cushions have allowed the students the opportunity to change how they sit during a lesson. This has created a more comfortable classroom for the students. The students, and myself, are very appreciative of your generosity. \r\n We are especially grateful for your donation because it allowed us to receive whiteboards, erasers, and pouches for each of the students. This is an integral part of our daily lessons and has tremendously helped the students. Each student has been assigned a pouch with holds their whiteboard, marker, eraser and earbuds. This is utilized during our independent work time. The students are able to grab their pouch and get right to work. It has saved us time during transitions and keeps the students more organized and responsible for their materials. \r\n Thank you so much for your generosity. We were really in need of a document camera and since we have received it, we use it daily. You should have seen the kiddos faces when they saw it. Their faces lit up, they were jumping around and they said we can learn even more plus we can read books under it!\r\n We use it every morning for our Reading Lesson. I read the stories using it and this is much better because now the students can see all the words and read along with me. This helps them become fluent readers, plus they are learning to read more challenging books. I can see them applying this to their own reading, too. I see them loving books even more than before!\r\nAs for writing, I can write along with them and they can see how to form letters correctly, learn how to spell new words and learn different spelling patterns. When they complete their own writing, they share it with each other. This helps them to grow as writers by learning how to correct their papers and add more details to their own work. This has made us all better readers and writers. In Math, the students share their math strategies, and we all know students learn best from each other. You have helped them become the best learners in all subject areas. Students test out different ways to manipulate the Play Doh with and without tools. Some make shapes, others make animals, foods and other things from their personal experience. For others, it's simply a sensory experience of feeling the Play Doh working between their fingers and palms of the hands. As students work, I have conversations with them, giving them the opportunity to develop both every day and art specific vocabulary.\r\nPlay Doh is also used as a preparation for their model magic projects. Before beginning their work with model magic, students are given a theme. With that theme in mind, students practice their ideas with the Play Doh, and look at reference pictures. This helps them to decide what they will make with the model magic and practice the necessary techniques. \r\nFor this project students had the following themes for model magic; grade Prek/K caterpillars, grade 1 monsters, grade 2 foods, grade 4 and 5 dragon eyes. \r\nOne thing they all had to do to create their sculptures, was mix marker into their model magic for all the colors they wanted. This was a great moment of discovery as students made color mixtures of primary colors to create secondary colors. They all had so much fun making their masterpieces!\r\nIn the end, each sculpture was made into a magnet. Students treasured their work.
