The puzzles, Legos, sensory tools, and books you helped provide have become essential resources in our classroom. Whether students are problem-solving with a jigsaw puzzle as a reward after finishing work, taking a break with it as part of an IEP or behavior plan, building creative Lego structures during STEM challenges, or using sensory manipulatives to stay focused and calm during lessons, these materials are supporting students in so many meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. It was like a wave of joy and curiosity swept through the room. Some dove straight into the new books, while others started piecing together puzzles or designing wild and wonderful Lego builds with their classmates. For many of my students—especially those who need extra support with attention, language, or regulation—these materials have made the classroom feel more accessible, more inclusive, and more fun. One student who often struggles to stay engaged during transitions now starts each day with a calming sensory activity and has been participating more confidently than ever before.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we now have the tools to create a space where all learners feel supported and successful. Next, we're planning to incorporate these resources into student-led stations and group projects that blend engineering, storytelling, and social-emotional learning. Your donation didn't just give us materials—it gave us momentum, and I'm so grateful for that.","fullyFundedDate":1735657677510,"projectUrl":"project/an-accessible-stem-class-for-all-student/8935476/","projectTitle":"An Accessible STEM Class for All Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cushing","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9203977_orig.png?crop=800,800,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692493917633","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/daniel-cushing"},{"teacherId":9203977,"projectId":7705691,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping to bring drones into our elementary STEM classroom! Your generosity has given my students access to cutting-edge technology that not only sparks excitement but also deepens their understanding of science, engineering, and coding in ways that textbooks simply can't.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students—especially those who come from immigrant and low-income families—this is their first time working with technology like this. The drones have become a powerful tool for hands-on learning. Students aren't just flying them for fun; they're writing simple code to direct flight paths, practicing teamwork during group challenges, and applying math and physics concepts in real-time. One recent project had students mapping out \"rescue missions,\" where they had to navigate their drones through obstacles using precise measurements and problem-solving. Activities like these bring STEM to life and give students the confidence that they can master high-tech tools, even at a young age.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to students is the way drones give them agency. They light up when their code works, and even when it doesn't, they're eager to figure out why. One student in particular—an English learner who's typically shy—has become a leader in helping others troubleshoot their flight paths. Watching her confidence grow as she proudly explains her strategy to her classmates is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching with this technology. Moments like these show that when given access and opportunity, all students can thrive in STEM.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible.
