My students have been using these for their independent reading projects and for independent reading in my classroom. I've had more than one student tell me that the book they had donated was the first book they've every enjoyed reading! \r\n\r\nWith our new high interest books, I have issued my students a book challenge. Once their class has read 2000 pages (a tall order because most of my classes are 4-7 students!), we are taking a field trip to read to a kindergarten class at a local elementary school! \r\n\r\nBy having more high interest books, reading as stopped feeling like a punishment for my students, but instead something that they are excited to get to do.
