With the new yoga mats, resistance bands, light weights, and journals, my students were able to fully participate in guided exercises like yoga, mindfulness-based movement, and strength training. During one of the sessions, the girls practiced deep breathing and stretching on their mats while reflecting in their journals about how these activities made them feel. The combination of movement and self-reflection has created a safe space where they can explore stress management strategies while building resilience and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. Many shared that they had never had access to their own workout or mindfulness equipment before, and it made them feel both valued and motivated. They quickly unrolled the mats, experimented with the bands, and eagerly discussed ways they wanted to use the journals to track their progress and emotions. The energy in the room shifted from hesitant to empowered, and it was clear that having the right tools truly sparked their engagement.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our future groups will continue building on these practices by integrating structured wellness routines into our sessions. Students will learn to set personal goals, reflect on their growth through journaling, and practice techniques that they can carry into their everyday lives. Your support has not only provided resources but also given these young women the opportunity to develop lifelong habits for managing stress and embracing holistic health. We are deeply grateful for your contribution in helping us create this safe, supportive, and transformative space.","fullyFundedDate":1743118482270,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-high-school-girls-holistic-w/9030896/","projectTitle":"Empowering High School Girls: Holistic Wellness Through Movement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ashley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9713555"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131710","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":131710,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about South Shore Charter - High School Campus on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"South Shore Charter - High School Campus","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/massachusetts-department-of-education/south-shore-charter-high-school-campus/131710"}
