My second, third and fourth grade art students learned some important weaving skills through this activity. They were able to boost their fine motor coordination, improve their patience and gain tremendous satisfaction from completing both scarf squares and mittens. It was a challenging project but students were so invested in finishing, they even asked to take home their weaving boards over a long weekend to keep going on their own!\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the students learned about the homeless population in our community. They often see individuals near our school and in their neighborhoods. It has been a tremendously cold and snowy winter here this year. Students really appeared to understand the value of their contribution in helping to make the challenging lives of our community members easier and warmer. That was truly the greatest gift that your generosity helped bring about.\r\n\r\nThank you again for enabling our students to realize that, even at their young age, an effort from the heart really \"ties us all together\" and can make such a powerful difference.","fullyFundedDate":1764730998545,"projectUrl":"project/tied-together-weaving-winter-scarves/9849996/","projectTitle":"\"Tied Together\" - Weaving Winter Scarves for the Homeless","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1823993_orig.jpg?crop=1493,1493,x0,y398&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722734600581","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1823993"},{"teacherId":1823993,"projectId":9513237,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my students. It's helped generate a lot of creative art work. The students have been engaged in so many hands-on activities with all of the tools requested. \r\n\r\nWithout realizing it, and even with some occasional struggle, I have witnessed their fine motor skills improving on a daily basis. Many students have shared that it is their first time trying some of these materials. For example, when we broke open the metallic markers, they practically raced each other to the boxes to grab their favorite color, adding beautiful swirling details to their projects. \"Woah, wow\" were frequent reactions. We were also able to share our ink stamp pads with both siblings and parents when we had a \"leave your mark\" mini-mural activity during our open house event in September. Attendance and energy were at an all-time high this year!\r\n\r\nWe have been able to really expand the exposure our students have had to so many more art materials than ever before. It has been inspiring to watch their wonder and enthusiasm blossom. \r\n\r\nThank you for fulfilling this project. Your donations have opened up the creative spirits of these students in ways that are hard to fully describe, and have made a tremendous difference. This could not have happened without you.","fullyFundedDate":1755706449966,"projectUrl":"project/my-students-are-all-thumbs/9513237/","projectTitle":"My Students Are All Thumbs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1823993_orig.jpg?crop=1493,1493,x0,y398&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722734600581","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1823993"},{"teacherId":1823993,"projectId":8549299,"letterContent":"Because of your donations to this project, my third grade students were able to use the special headphones to record themselves telling stories into an online document. They were so excited to watch the words appear on the screen after speaking into the headphones - a first in our classroom! It took away a roadblock that often happened when they had a great idea but just couldn't get words written onto paper. Using the dictionaries was a great added tool giving the multilingual learners greater access and freedom to communicate in a way they had not had before.\r\n\r\nNone of this could have happened without your generous donations - thank you cannot even truly express the gratitude and terrific feeling I experienced watching my students open up in such new and creative ways. \r\n\r\nYou have made a huge difference!","fullyFundedDate":1723649574728,"projectUrl":"project/the-wondrous-world-of-words-is-waiting-f/8549299/","projectTitle":"The Wondrous World of Words is Waiting for My Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1823993_orig.jpg?crop=1493,1493,x0,y398&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722734600581","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1823993"},{"teacherId":9574375,"projectId":9064337,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding my positive affirmation project for my classroom. This project has helped my students have the opportunity to take home their own positive affirmation to reflect on everyday. \r\nMy students saw as all of the boxes came in, getting more and more excited as I opened each box and put them aside for future use. Well that day finally came and can I say the students were so excited to have the opportunity to choose a color and paint the canvas. They were able to build curiosity as they waited to see their final product, which is still in the works. As all of the vinyl needs to be cut and weeded which is Mrs. Schembari's final steps of this project. \r\nI am excited to be able to reuse any extra materials like paint, paint brushes etc for future projects. This one was such a hit that I may do it again next year and if I do the majority of the supplies have already been purchased from amazing donors like you. Thank you for giving my students the gift of being able to be creative as well as build their positive thoughts about themselves as we get ready for summer.","fullyFundedDate":1738768683998,"projectUrl":"project/positive-affirmations/9064337/","projectTitle":"Positive Affirmations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schembari","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9574375_orig.png?crop=498,498,x0,y49&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736976302360","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9574375"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61636","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":492,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":39,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.1,"schoolId":61636,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Abraham Lincoln Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Abraham Lincoln Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/lowell-public-schools/abraham-lincoln-elementary-school/61636"}
