They very much enjoy utilizing the tent when they are feeling frustrated or overwhelmed. It provides them a space where they can feel safe, enclosed but still remain a part of the group. It also has been nice in the sense that it provides students some privacy to work through their big feelings and not impact their peer's perceptions of them. My students have also enjoyed using the tent as a place to compete independent work. I was able to fit a bean bag, some sensory tools and regulation strategy items in there for students to access independently to help encourage them to begin to regulate with minimal teacher prompting or modeling. Another popular area in my classroom is the sensory area. The students love the carpet squares for reading, laying, or resting. The floor mat has also made the sensory table more accessible and we have been able to put different items in the sensory bins. Currently the students enjoy the Pluffle (or fluff) that we have in there currently. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, the immediately gravitated towards them. They were very excited to have designated spaces where they could go when they were feeling big feelings and specific tools and areas that could help them regulate. Several of my students have been able to consistently independently accessing the sequin board when they have started to feel frustrated or overwhelmed by something. They have been able to brush the sequins back and forth for a few moments and then return to their group or class. I am very grateful for these materials as they have helped my students work on their independence in self-regulation.","fullyFundedDate":1755703357429,"projectUrl":"project/regulation-space/9416511/","projectTitle":"Regulation Space","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Krol","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10057394"},{"teacherId":6782145,"projectId":9421141,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for all your support to fund room 103's new play kitchen! We then do an exercise routine such as a sun-salutation, including a challenge round where students can jump back into plank pose rather than stepping back. We finish the practice with a mindful rest, taking slow breaths and imagining special adventures such as flying in the clouds, swimming in the ocean, or watching a view from atop a mountain. The three sets of bicycle pedals have been placed into three classrooms. The students were excited to try out the pedals and continue to use them when they need a movement break in class. It is great to have a small item that allows students to get the movement they need without having to leave the classroom. We also found that they can be used as hand pedals, providing a variety of movement experiences.\r\n While some students find the pedals most useful to get their energy out, others find that the deep pressure of the beanbag or inflatable canoe are what they need to stay calm. The inflatable canoe has been especially well-received by a number of our students with autism.
