Both Design I & II classes have just completed their print making unit and the new materials were already put to good use. \r\n\r\nFor the Design I class we made Monoprints. The students used the gloves to protect their hands from the messy ink and they also used the card stock to create stencils. The stencils were carefully cut and used to either block the ink or block the background to allow the image of a figure to appear. The thickness of the cardstock allows for multiple use of he stencil whereby the student can make multiple images with the single stencil. It is exciting to see how they playfully experiment with the stencil to create a story.\r\n\r\nIn Design II class we made Linocut prints. The theme of the project was a childhood memory. After the long process of creating a print was completed, we used the donated mounting board to display multiple prints on one surface in order to feature the medium's ability to make more than print of the same image.\r\nBoth projects were a success and we are grateful for the donations!","fullyFundedDate":1755694442916,"projectUrl":"project/set-up-the-art-room-we-need-to-restock/9352675/","projectTitle":"Set Up the Art Room! The materials you helped fund have transformed the way my students approach art—they now have the tools and confidence to explore, experiment, and truly express themselves through their work.\r\n\r\nWhen the new art supplies arrived, the room buzzed with energy. Many students couldn't wait to try out the different materials—testing the new paints, exploring textures, and brainstorming ways to use them in their projects. For several of my students, this was the first time they'd worked with professional-quality supplies, and it made them feel like real artists. The joy and pride on their faces were unforgettable.\r\n\r\nOne of our recent projects involved combining traditional drawing techniques with mixed media to create self-portraits that reflect each student's identity and story. The new resources allowed them to add depth, color, and personal meaning in ways that weren't possible before. It was inspiring to see students take ownership of their creative process, encouraging one another and sharing ideas as they worked.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to build on this momentum by developing a collaborative mural that represents our school community. Students are currently sketching designs and experimenting with color palettes using the supplies you provided. This project will not only beautify our space, but also give students the opportunity to showcase their voices and teamwork through art.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made all of this possible. You've done more than just provide materials - you've helped empower young artists to believe in their creativity and see the value of their artistic expression. Thank you for being such an important part of their growth and for believing in the power of art education.","fullyFundedDate":1755694443357,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-creative-learning-by-empowerin/9255236/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Creative Learning by Empowering Young Artists","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Duran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9079792"},{"teacherId":9562692,"projectId":9465040,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donation to our classroom. Students enjoy the posters and it helps as a whole class graphic organizer. This year's club is a science club and students have enjoyed looking under a microscope at the different slides. The binder system, that you've helped to make possible, has given each student a sense of ownership in their work and learning. Instead of losing papers or shoving them in their backpacks, students now open their binders and can clearly see and feel their learning process. Recently, we've been working on a literary analysis essay. It's been wonderful to see students flip back in their binder to look at the annotations or other notes they've already done as a reference for their writing.\r\n\r\nThus far, one of the most enjoyable days we've had this year was our \"binder building\" day. For several students, this was the first time they had a consistent place to keep class notes, writing drafts, and references. The process of \"building\" the binder themselves, utilizing their own unique styles, color/design choices, and designing their own cover pages made for a truly connected experience.\r\n\r\nWe're now using the binders daily to support long-term writing tasks and evidence-based discussions. As we move into our next unit which has a heavy focus on poetry as well as Shakespearean English, students will use their binders to track reading notes, collect textual evidence, and revise their essays step by step. After a slow start to the project over the summer, I got funded in about a week's time of active engagement on social media. My students are excited that they have access to curriculum-required materials like scissors, Post-it notes, highlighters, and permanent markers. I have one student in particular who is ecstatic about the wired mice! This particular student has been in my classroom for THREE YEARS now - first in 10th grade for Honors Biology, then 11th grade for AP Biology, and finally in 12th grade for AP Environmental Science. Because of how I assign Chromebooks at the beginning of the year, he has been stuck with the Chromebook with the absolute worst trackpad I've ever tried to work with. This year, smooth sailing thanks to the class set of wired mice. \r\n\r\nI also put some environmental items - such as a cool set of posters and air fresheners - and snacks on this project. Our students are historically from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and sometimes the food they get at school is something they rely on to meet their nutritional needs. This project helped stock my room with snacks and water cups for over 150 students! \r\n\r\nI hope to continue to serve my students with kindness, compassion, and grace - which is easier to do when we all have the supplies we need.
