Through them, students are learning how to analyze characters' motivations, track themes across a novel, and connect literature to their own experiences and the world around them. They are also practicing close reading, building their vocabulary, and strengthening their ability to express ideas in both discussion and writing.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is lively and interactive. Students read independently, in small groups, and aloud together. We pause often to ask questions, debate characters' choices, and make predictions. Students use sticky notes, journals, and discussion circles to track their thinking.\r\n\r\nYour gift has transformed reading. We have been using the new resources with our students, and they've made a significant impact on engagement, social emotional outcomes and, of course, creativity. One particularly memorable project involved creating a SEL journal using the scrapbooking materials. When the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up with excitement and wonder. For many of them, it was the first time they had access to such high-quality, artistic materials (they loved the paper cutter).\r\n\r\nSome couldn't stop flipping through the stickers and epherema, while others immediately gravitated toward designing. One student exclaimed, \"This is the coolest project! I never made something like this!\" Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it set a positive tone for the weeks to follow. Students made flowers out of duct tape, bookmarks with a secret pocket using the stickers and washi tape, and they made hanging ornaments using playing cards, stickers, washi tape and paper.\r\n\r\nWe will be using these materials over and over again and the creative juices will be flowing like a river.","fullyFundedDate":1742906956374,"projectUrl":"project/creativity-is-contagious/9194815/","projectTitle":"Creativity is Contagious","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5830806_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629755850089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5830806"},{"teacherId":2099739,"projectId":8793671,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generosity in funding this activity.
