The impact on student learning is tremendous! Students are able to complete the required assignments with regard to the science DVDs that are part of the curriculum. Because the students are able to access the curriculum, they are able to meet the credits required to either graduate or transition back to the high school campus. The DVD players they had were very outdated and did not provide the basic features, such as OSD (on-screen display). Now, students are able to mark the time of the DVD so they can continue the next class. Most students had to start the video over and were never able to complete the video. This was setting them back on the journey to fulfill their credits. This was very discouraging to all students. \r\n\r\nThe students I work with are part of the alternative campus of our city high school. Our district is very diverse, and most students face many challenges, including linguistic, socioeconomic, and traumatic. Many of the students at the alternative campus are trying to balance said challenges and work, family life, and different learning styles which can add additional stress to an already challenging high school career.\r\n\r\nAs an ESL teacher, I make it my mission to always fight for the students and stop at nothing to get them exactly what they need.
