They are encouraged to think deeply about what they are reading and to support their ideas with evidence. These books have helped make that work more engaging because students are much more willing to participate when they feel invested in the story and connected to the characters.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who are usually hesitant readers have been especially excited by these new books.
