The students often tell me they are hungry and cannot focus or pay attention to what is being asked of them as 4th graders. The snacks allow them to eat quickly, so they are not hungry and can continue their activities and lessons.\r\n\r\nThis school year has been an eye-opener as we've realized the extent of hunger issues among our students and their families. It's not just hunger, but a desperate need for food that some of our students are facing. They come to school hungry, and not only that, they ask for food to take home.
