It immediately draws students' attention and serves as a powerful visual centerpiece for our learning. We refer to it often during lessons—it helps students see connections between elements, patterns in atomic structure, and the broader organization of matter itself.\r\n\r\nRecently, as we began learning about how the periodic table was created, I decided to cover it up. This simple change sparked curiosity and discussion—students began forming their own theories about why elements might be arranged in particular ways. When we finally uncover it, they'll be able to compare their ideas to the real structure, deepening both their understanding and their sense of discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1746785654549,"projectUrl":"project/starting-new-chemistry-class/9251808/","projectTitle":"Starting new Chemistry class!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9997077_orig.jpg?crop=403,403,x0,y817&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744299292852","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9997077"},{"teacherId":4936285,"projectId":9045875,"letterContent":"Thank you again for contributing to our classroom. As the year wrapped up I was able to continue giving students targeted practice through many of the workbooks that were purchased. Students also had really fun ways to practice their literacy skills using the games. They really enjoy the game Blah Blah Blah. They enjoy it so much that it's the number one requested task for early finishers which I love because they're practicing the skills they need. \r\n\r\nNow that we have started a new year in a new school the resources have provided a sense of familiarity for students who were with me last year. They also have allowed me to be able to give that same targeted support. The Mrs. Wordsmith resources are amazing. They pair vocabulary with memorable images that allow students to really conceptualize the vocabulary. As students continue to grow as writers, they are able to enhance and upgrade their vocabulary. They learned a lot about showing things in their writing and not just telling and that's when the books really came in handy. Students sometimes searched by image and then we were able to discuss the word together to see if it made sense for their writing. \r\n\r\nThanks you so much for helping me to give my diverse group of students more ways to access grade level standards and content. They're so proud of the work they're doing and it's because they see the growth. Because of your support, each of my middle school English learners now has access to their own set of headphones—an essential tool that has made a meaningful difference in our day-to-day learning.\r\n\r\nWith these headphones, my students can now fully engage in language-learning programs without background noise or distractions. They are able to focus on listening activities, practice pronunciation, and receive personalized instruction through digital platforms that support their unique language goals.\r\n\r\nIn a busy classroom filled with many levels of English proficiency, the ability to work independently and hear clearly has helped students build confidence and develop their skills more effectively. I've seen more participation, greater independence, and a noticeable improvement in focus during our lessons.\r\n\r\nYour contribution helped create a more inclusive, productive, and encouraging learning environment for my students. As many of you know and have experienced yourself, books are such a powerful tool to inspire or comfort someone when they need it most. In our classrooms we find that many books give a voice to our students they may not feel prepared to use quite yet. The book you helped supply our students, \"Go With The Flow\" has done exactly that; has given our students who are menstruating or about to a story they can relate to and find answers they many times are not comfortable asking. \r\n In our schools students have what is called \"DEAR\" time which is when they Drop Everything And Read. At first many students would complain about this time of day but now they look forward to it and request for more DEAR time whenever we can fit it into our schedules. This book you helped supply us with is a graphic novel which allowed many of our students struggling to read (who are two or more grade levels below in reading comprehension) an option during DEAR they not only could understand but appreciate its content. Many students have asked to bring this book home to share with siblings and cousins and because of donors like you I have been able to lend these books out to other teachers as well. By engaging with the hands-on robotics kits, students developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they worked collaboratively to build and program their robots. These activities required them to plan, test, and refine their creations, fostering a growth mindset and encouraging resilience in facing challenges. The interactive and tactile nature of the project also supported language acquisition, as students practiced essential English vocabulary and communication skills while describing their robots, discussing strategies, and presenting their work to peers.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the Lego robotics sessions promoted student collaboration and teamwork, which is especially beneficial in an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) setting. Students worked together in mixed-ability groups, using their strengths to achieve common goals. This activity built their confidence and helped them develop social-emotional skills such as cooperation, listening, and empathy. For many students, this was their first opportunity to engage in a STEM-related activity, sparking interest in science and technology fields and expanding their aspirations.\r\n\r\nLego robotics also provided an inclusive learning environment where students of all English proficiency levels could actively participate. The visual and hands-on nature of the tasks allowed students to demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving abilities without being limited by their language proficiency. The project significantly enhanced student engagement fostered a love of learning and equipped students with valuable 21st-century skills beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1697160443001,"projectUrl":"project/building-future-coders-lego-education-c/7894981/","projectTitle":"Building Future Coders: LEGO Education Coding Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ferreira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9254301_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694367792466","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9254301"},{"teacherId":8280462,"projectId":8488522,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to our project, Books for Newcomer Students and Parents to Read Together Nightly.
