Your generous donations allowed us to create 15 story boxes—three for each of the five literacy-based units we will be teaching this year! Our units include The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Tuskegee Airmen, Diana Trujillo and Making Dreams Come True, Treasure Island, and Casey at the Bat.\r\n\r\nThese hands-on materials bring learning to life, making literacy more meaningful and perceivable for students with physical and sensory impairments. With these resources, we are able to create high-quality, multisensory lessons that make reading and writing more accessible. Students have engaging, interactive ways to explore texts, practice communication, and build literacy skills.\r\n\r\nWe are just about to finish our first unit, centered around The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the story boxes have already brought so much excitement and learning to our classrooms! Students have had the opportunity to become characters in the story, experience Dorothy's house landing on the Wicked Witch, explore the Scarecrow's brain and the Tin Man's heart, and practice being courageous when the Cowardly Lion roars. These materials have transformed the story into an experience students can see, touch, explore, and actively participate in!\r\n\r\nYour support has helped us create literacy-rich classrooms where ALL students have the opportunity to experience the joy of reading and learning, while developing essential communication skills and building meaningful connections with the stories we share.\r\n\r\nWe are so excited to continue bringing our remaining four units to life and cannot wait to see the opportunities for exploration, communication, and learning that these materials will create throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students, investing in accessible literacy, and helping make these meaningful learning experiences possible.
