I want to share the significant and positive impact that our quiet therapeutic space has had on students with emotional impairments at our school. This space was thoughtfully created to support the social-emotional well-being of students who benefit from a calm, structured, and non-judgmental environment during the school day.\r\n\r\nSince its introduction, the therapeutic space has become a vital resource for students struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, and trauma-related responses. It offers a safe haven where students can step away from overwhelming situations and utilize coping strategies in a supportive setting. Equipped with sensory tools, calming visuals, and access to trained staff, the space is designed to reduce emotional escalation and help students regain control in moments of distress.\r\n\r\nWe've observed numerous positive outcomes since the implementation of the space. Students have shown improved self-regulation, decreased incidents of classroom disruption, and a greater ability to transition back into academic environments more successfully. Teachers have reported fewer interruptions in instructional time, and students themselves have expressed appreciation for having a place where they feel understood and supported.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this space reinforces the message that their mental health is valued and that their emotional needs matter. It empowers students to advocate for themselves in a healthy, constructive way while fostering a stronger sense of belonging within the school community.\r\n\r\nThe quiet therapeutic space is not just a room—it's a reflection of our commitment to inclusive, compassionate education. I wholeheartedly support continued investment in these spaces and encourage other educational settings to consider implementing similar supports.","fullyFundedDate":1735657684747,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-corner-for-our-tlc-program/8822486/","projectTitle":"Cozy Corner for Our TLC Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sarai","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7601412_orig.png?crop=1485,1485,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1603201962501","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-sarai-and-ms-hines"},{"teacherId":9813593,"projectId":8898789,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project!! Students have found so much joy in working hard in class to receive points that then allow them to choose from the various prizes you've helped me fund. Some students go right for the snacks while others choose to save their points to cash in on bigger prizes like the football. I keep all of the incentive prizes in my office and each time students earn enough points, their paraprofessional brings them my way and they can choose what they want. Students often show up excited (or try and play it \"cool\" as they are high schoolers...) and leave with a smile on their faces. \r\n\r\nThe students in our program are incredibly smart, kind, and hilarious. They are all unique in their own ways and having a large assortment of prizes that meets each of their individual wants has been key in allowing this project to be a success. \r\n\r\nI plan to continue this project throughout","fullyFundedDate":1731001208160,"projectUrl":"project/incentivizing-positive-behaviors-for-hig/8898789/","projectTitle":"Incentivizing Positive Behaviors For High Schooler Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Libby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9813593_orig.jpg?crop=810,810,x0,y37&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730914990684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9813593"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63528","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":253,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":63528,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Another Course to College on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Another Course to College","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/boston-public-schools/another-course-to-college-school/63528"}
