I teach at one of the most diverse public schools in my district. Many of them enter my classroom reading significantly below grade level. Most of them claim they don't like to read. I try to expose them to all types of books in order to foster a love of reading. However, due to a lack of funds, we often don't have a wide variety of books to offer students. Growing up in the generation of hyper-exposure to media, many of my students have become excited about reading for the first time after reading books in my class. I am working on creating a classroom library, with books from all genres, to give them a chance to explore this new-found love.
