Because of your generosity, our students have access to snacks and other prizes that genuinely motivate and excite them โ and I can confidently say the Takis and Golden Oreos were the biggest hit! The 9th graders especially are loving the opportunity to earn prizes for class participation, attendance, and positive behavior. These incentives have added energy and buy-in to the school day in a way that feels joyful and affirming.\r\n\r\nEach grade level works closely with their paraprofessional to earn points, and students proudly come to my office with their para to share what they've done to earn an incentive. Those moments matter. We talk through the work they completed, the expectations they met, and the effort they showed โ and yes, we also do a lot of redirection and expectation-setting, because that's part of working with teenagers. I always emphasize that while the snack is exciting, the real reward is building habits that help them grow into successful students and humans, even on days when there isn't a prize waiting.\r\n\r\nI am deeply grateful to our donors because without you, this simply wouldn't be possible. Funds are incredibly limited at my school, and providing these kinds of supports often means staff paying out of pocket โ something many of us cannot and should not have to do. Our students, some of the most vulnerable in Boston Public Schools, deserve the same quality systems of encouragement and recognition as any other students. Your support sends them a powerful message: they are seen, valued, and worth investing in. Thank you for making that message loud and clear. ๐","fullyFundedDate":1762267492821,"projectUrl":"project/staying-the-course-incentives-to-motiva/9860797/","projectTitle":"Staying the Course: Incentives to Motivate High School Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Libby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9813593_orig.jpg?crop=810,810,x0,y37&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730914990684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9813593"},{"teacherId":7601412,"projectId":8822486,"letterContent":"First and foremost thank you for all your contributions. I want to share the significant and positive impact that our quiet therapeutic space has had on students with emotional impairments at our school. This space was thoughtfully created to support the social-emotional well-being of students who benefit from a calm, structured, and non-judgmental environment during the school day.\r\n\r\nSince its introduction, the therapeutic space has become a vital resource for students struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, and trauma-related responses. It offers a safe haven where students can step away from overwhelming situations and utilize coping strategies in a supportive setting. Equipped with sensory tools, calming visuals, and access to trained staff, the space is designed to reduce emotional escalation and help students regain control in moments of distress.\r\n\r\nWe've observed numerous positive outcomes since the implementation of the space. Students have shown improved self-regulation, decreased incidents of classroom disruption, and a greater ability to transition back into academic environments more successfully. Teachers have reported fewer interruptions in instructional time, and students themselves have expressed appreciation for having a place where they feel understood and supported.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this space reinforces the message that their mental health is valued and that their emotional needs matter. It empowers students to advocate for themselves in a healthy, constructive way while fostering a stronger sense of belonging within the school community.\r\n\r\nThe quiet therapeutic space is not just a roomโit's a reflection of our commitment to inclusive, compassionate education. I wholeheartedly support continued investment in these spaces and encourage other educational settings to consider implementing similar supports.","fullyFundedDate":1735657684747,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-corner-for-our-tlc-program/8822486/","projectTitle":"Cozy Corner for Our TLC Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sarai","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7601412_orig.png?crop=1485,1485,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1603201962501","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-sarai-and-ms-hines"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63528","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":253,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.7,"schoolId":63528,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Another Course to College on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Another Course to College","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/boston-public-schools/another-course-to-college-school/63528"}
