The students will actually be ale to play the drums now that they've worked so hard fundraising for! \r\nWhy 3 pairs of mallets? Well, in high school, the band repertoire starts expanding. One of the ways is the use of timbre (sound color/texture) of different instruments and styles within each instrument. For example, the timpani can be played with hard and soft mallets giving it a different hardness to to the drum itself. Starting a music program from scratch is very stressful, but from your generous contributions and shared belief in music has granted our low brass students to an amazing and gorgeous new tuba!\r\n\r\nWhen I first opened the large box, I did so in front of my band students and they also thought it looked sooo shiny. I'm so glad to share that they now have access to one of the best brands out there - a Yamaha!\r\n\r\nThis instrument will be used for many years to come and I can't wait to allow the students to begin using it!
