As a school social worker, having tactile objects, games, toys, and fidgets my students can use to relax, unwind, and fidget with is vital to my work. When my students saw all my new objects, they were so excited and they have now become staples in my room. Students excitedly run in to play with my kinetic sand trays, build with legos, and create with magnetic tiles. \r\nLast year, I unfortunately had a lot of items lost from a summer program misusing my room. With the support from this grant, my room has once again been a place of fun and relaxation with all these new objects. I have some students that are unable to make eye contact, that need the distraction of objects or games while talking with me, and these items have been perfect for that. These objects also get students more and more excited to come in and feel comfortable in my room, and want to return more often. The support I have received from this program will help me for years to come and I know have a lasting impact on my students.
