Our population has increased dramatically in the last 5-10 years from minimal English language learners to 65-70% English language learners. With students who are from 5-9 years old, we encourage reading at all levels and encourage the love of books. Many of our families do not have books of their own, and especially in their first language, so we wanted to have these books available for all students. \r\nOne student whom I gave a book to, told me the next day that her mom read the book in Portuguese and she read the book in English so she thought that was very fun. Other students that have received our books are newcomers, or students who are coming from their native country and have no English. This population is increasing each year.\r\nMy hope and plan for the rest of the school year is to have these books available for families and students. We want students to love reading.
