Students had a VERY successful year in performing THREE concerts and a COMPOSITION project with an established composer! We had so much fun and a great year with over 76 students participating in instrumental! \r\n\r\nWith regard to student impact, students from three schools in PG County, MD more students learned the value of hard work and discipline than ever before in all three schools. They learned the power of music and the opportunities it would lead too. Valley View Elementary School composed \"Jingle Splat!\" with the help of Dr. Matthew Herman from Western Kentucky University! \r\n\r\nWe learned mistakes were okay and ENCOURAGED! Thus, we created a Christmas piece full of acting, plenty of squeaks, and WRONG SONGS before ultimately landing on Jingle Bells. My students and I are thrilled about the materials that we received to help our classroom run smoothly. The tables are the best! My students have been able to effectively work together in groups and workshops because of the round tables. They allow my students to have a place to work or calm down, separate from the rest of the class. Also, the pencils have allowed students to be prepared for class and it has helped my students transition more efficiently. \r\n\r\nMy students were so surprised and happy about the tables. They were excited that we now have a way to have workshops. Students also love the tables during indoor recess. My next steps are to continue utilizing the space that the tables allow me to have. The purpose of this project was to ensure that students have the necessary tools for engaging learning. We received pencils markers, colored pencils, and \"book baggies\" that enhance learning.\r\n\r\nMy students love the \"book baggies\". We use them for small groups to organize student materials.
