In our classroom, we spend a lot of time in our group meeting area for whole group discussions, read-alouds, and other group activities. Sometimes getting kids to stay in their spot when coming to group meetings can be very challenging when there are no boundaries. When we come together for circle time, a new carpet in our meeting area can serve as a great anchor. With a classroom rug, students won’t question where to sit, or spread out very far because the rug becomes the destination and the edges of the rug serve as a defined space for them all to sit.
