Students explored the history and meaning of their names and transformed those discoveries into personally designed resin-crete keychains.\r\n\r\nUsing silicone molds, resin-crete, textured accents, metallic flakes, and vibrant pigments, my students created individualized name pieces that were beautiful, tactile, and deeply personal. The materials allowed even my most hesitant students to work with confidence, measuring, pouring, mixing, and designing like true makers and designers.\r\n\r\nA major breakthrough happened with several of my 6th-grade boys, who had never connected meaningfully with traditional art materials. When they worked with ResinCrete, an eco-friendly casting powder, for the first time, something clicked. They were engaged, focused, and fully invested.\r\n\r\nOne student held up his finished mold, eyes wide with excitement, and said:\r\n\"I want to make everything.\"\r\n\r\nThat moment alone made this project worth it, seeing a student discover a medium that brings out his creativity, motivation, and pride.","fullyFundedDate":1757603984974,"projectUrl":"project/a-name-that-resinates/9589265/","projectTitle":"A Name that RESINates!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bates, Visual Arts Educator","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7669672_orig.png?crop=1544,1545,x0,y97&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720901212334","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/artiseverything-scbates"},{"teacherId":7669672,"projectId":9094717,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, the simple gift of a classroom snack box has nourished both the bodies and spirits of my young artists. This year, as we prepare for our African American Heritage Day 2025 celebration, those snacks have provided the energy my students need to stay engaged in big, meaningful projects.\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment happened while my middle school students were shaping clay cornucopias and my younger students were designing door decorations to honor African American artists, artisans, and authors. After a quick snack break, their focus sharpened, and their creativity came alive. Their excitement showed me that your gift was more than food — it was fuel for their artistic expression and cultural pride.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the snack box, they treated it like a gift just for them. They immediately felt supported and valued, which carried into their artwork and collaboration.\r\n\r\nAs we move into the Heritage celebration, students are finalizing their projects — a fashion showcase inspired by African fabrics, a tribute to the Six Triple Eight Battalion, and poetry displayed alongside their visual art. Your kindness helped sustain the focus, joy, and imagination required to make this showcase possible.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping us create a celebration of heritage, pride, and creativity that they will never forget.","fullyFundedDate":1738794013061,"projectUrl":"project/snack-time/9094717/","projectTitle":"Snack Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bates, Visual Arts Educator","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7669672_orig.png?crop=1544,1545,x0,y97&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720901212334","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/artiseverything-scbates"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60275","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":361,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":44,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":82,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":60275,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Judith P Hoyer Montessori School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Judith P Hoyer Montessori School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/prince-george-s-county-public-schools/judith-p-hoyer-early-chld-ctr/60275"}
