Due to your generosity, my students are able to have hands on items and experiences that enhance curriculum based learning. While writing in notebooks and computer based lessons have their place, there is nothing like a student learning via tangible materials. This is especially valuable to kinesthetic and tactile learners.\r\n\r\nA specific meaningful experience, (it's ongoing), involves the Bluetooth speaker with the jellyfish floating in water. Over the last couple of months I've been questioned by students AND adults if the jellyfish are real. I always say yes, 😉, and tell them their names. The students have been learning how to complete CERs for science class. CER stands for \"Claim, Evidence, Reason\" whereas students are posed with a question and have to respond according to the three criteria. Students aren't typically eager to receive homework but the day I gave a CER homework sheet with the question, \"Are the classroom jellyfish real?\", I was pleased to see lots of smiles from the students. It was nice to see them excited about completing a homework assignment, furthermore, they were able to apply learning to a real world situation.\r\n\r\nLastly, through your donations, my students learned a lesson in generosity and gratitude. They learned there are kind people in the world that want to see them succeed in their academics. They also learned a lesson of gratitude and the importance of saying \"thank you\" and showing appreciation when they are thought of and given something. Thank you so much for the various lessons you've given my students. Thank you for taking the financial burden off of my back by providing these necessary materials!","fullyFundedDate":1783274860472,"projectUrl":"project/presto-chango-classroom-subject-change/10357472/","projectTitle":"Presto Chango: Classroom Subject Change","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grantham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10540781"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64998","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":410,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":51,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":64998,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Francis T Evans Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Francis T Evans Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/prince-george-s-county-public-schools/francis-t-evans-elementary-school/64998"}
