Our classroom library has transformed into a space filled with excitement, curiosity, and confidence. The new Spanish books from our \"From Hola to Fluency\" project have allowed my students to grow as readers while developing a genuine love for the language. We're using these books to practice key literacy skills — reading for comprehension, identifying main ideas, expanding vocabulary, and discussing cultural themes — all while making connections to their own lives and experiences.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading time now looks vibrant and interactive. Students choose books at their level and engage in partner reading, small-group discussions, and short reflections that help them apply new grammar and vocabulary in context. For many of my heritage speakers, these stories have been a bridge to reconnect with their roots; for others, they've opened the door to understanding the beauty of another culture. One student who was once hesitant to read in Spanish now proudly volunteers to read aloud, inspired by a story that reminded her of her grandmother's hometown. These books have truly made a huge difference in my class and the impact is immeasurable. \r\n\r\nYour support has made our Spanish classroom a more inclusive, inspiring space for language learning. Every book you helped provide is helping students move closer to fluency — one page, one conversation, one \"¡ahora entiendo!\" at a time. Thank you for believing in them and for helping bring language and culture to life in such a meaningful way. This donation will continue to leave a positive impact on learners for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1761429784333,"projectUrl":"project/from-hola-to-fluency-spanish-books-for/9650362/","projectTitle":"From Hola to Fluency: Spanish Books for All","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tucker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3809414_orig.jpg?crop=503,503,x110,y160&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756163563592","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3809414"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68643","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":514,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.3,"schoolId":68643,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shady Grove Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shady Grove Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/montgomery-county-public-schools/shady-grove-middle-school/68643"}
