One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing students discover books that they were genuinely excited to read, and gain trust in me for being able to provide the specific books they were looking for. Having these books available in our classroom made reading feel personal and meaningful for them.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is about more than just picking up and flipping through a book. Students practice making inferences, identifying themes and central ideas, analyzing characters, making connections, learning new vocabulary, and supporting their thinking with evidence from the text. Our new books have given students opportunities to practice these skills with stories that they are actually interested in outside of our class time. Many of my student's have even asked to take some home since they said my class library was better than our school library!\r\n\r\nYour support helped give my students something incredibly valuable: personal choice.
