As a district, funding for libraries is essentially nonexistent, and as a result updating and maintaining libraries is left up to the already severely underfunded individual schools to manage. Additionally, many of our students come from hardworking low income families who do not have the means to provide books at home.\r\n\r\nWith all of that in mind your donations mean the world to us!! Through donors like you we have been able to stock our shelves and give our students access to hundreds of brand new books since the summer of 2021! We have added a wealth of favorite characters and series' to our circulation collection that will serve students from grades pre-K all the way through 5th grade!! The best way to build strong readers is to help build up children who love and genuinely want to read. Their love of and strength in reading will serve them in all aspects of their lives going forward.\r\n\r\nI am a firm believer that the best way to engage students in reading is to introduce them to things that they WANT to read about. All of these titles were chosen by my students themselves and have greatly increased student interest and desire to check out books to continue reading at home! My students loved the new materials and the strategies were so helpful to some that had been struggling previously.\r\n\r\nI was also able to print many new book companions to help build narrative language and vocabulary.
