The resources you helped provide have transformed our lessons from simple skill practice into interactive, high-energy learning experiences where every student can participate meaningfully.\r\n\r\nHow we're using the new materials:\r\nThis month, we've been diving into our yoga unit, and the new equipment has allowed us to run full pose-development stations without students waiting for turns or feeling left out. One memorable moment came during a yoga station cards circuit: students rotated through stations practicing balance, twisting, core and partner poses using the brand-new yoga mats and cones. For the first time, every student had their own yoga mat, which meant constant motion, focused practice, and real improvement.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction:\r\nWhen my students first walked in and saw all the new materials set up, their faces lit up instantly. Several students said, \"Is all this really for us?\" One ninth-grader who normally hangs back in PE actually grabbed a yoga mat right away and said, \"Now I can really learn this!\" That excitement continued throughout the lesson—students were more engaged, confident, and willing to try new skills because they had the right tools.\r\n\r\nWhat's next:\r\nWe are now building toward small-sided games where students apply their skills in real-time situations. Because we finally have enough equipment for everyone to practice simultaneously, students are progressing faster and are eager to show what they've learned. Our upcoming project includes a student-created \"Skill Showcase,\" where each student demonstrates yoga skills they've improved and reflects on their growth.\r\n\r\nYour contribution didn't just supply equipment—it boosted confidence, built teamwork, and sparked joy in movement. Thank you for making such a meaningful impact in our gym and in the lives of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1755378750768,"projectUrl":"project/achieving-a-healthy-lifestyle-through-ph/9453548/","projectTitle":"Achieving a Healthy Lifestyle Through Physical Activity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Saunders","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9891571_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752074295934","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9891571"},{"teacherId":6243570,"projectId":8588120,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and myself, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of a MacBook to support and elevate classroom instruction. Your gift has made a meaningful difference in our learning environment, and we are so grateful for your thoughtfulness and investment in our growth.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors are familiar with technology for personal use at home, but your generosity has shown a deeper understanding of how powerful technology can be when placed directly in the hands of educators and students. The MacBook has allowed me to seamlessly integrate digital resources into my lessons; whether that's designing engaging presentations, supporting student research, or facilitating collaborative projects in real time.\r\n\r\nFor the students, the MacBook has opened up a world of possibilities. They are most excited about interactive learning experiences: from creating multimedia projects to exploring educational apps that bring lessons to life. The ability to connect their ideas with visuals, videos, and real-time feedback has transformed the way they participate in class.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant to share their work have especially warmed to this new technology. For example, one of my quieter students has found confidence in creating digital presentations, where she can showcase her creativity and voice in ways that paper and pencil did not allow. Another student with an IEP has been able to access assistive tools on the MacBook that support their reading and writing, helping them feel more independent and successful.\r\n\r\nThis gift is more than just a piece of equipment; it is a tool that is building skills, confidence, and excitement for learning every day. Thank you for investing in our classroom and for believing in the potential of our students. Your generosity not only supports instruction but also empowers young women to thrive as learners and leaders.","fullyFundedDate":1732825550918,"projectUrl":"project/an-apple-for-the-teacher/8588120/","projectTitle":"An Apple for the Teacher","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McNeill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6243570_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y423&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597110650436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/smcneill"},{"teacherId":2374139,"projectId":5677002,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project. I want to share how your support has made a meaningful difference in our school community.\r\n\r\nImplementation Journey\r\nWhen we introduced the care kits to our students, they responded with gratitude and relief. Many girls have approached me privately to express how having access to these essential items in a discreet package has made \"coming on\" at school not so \"heavy.\" One student quietly shared, \"Now I don't have to miss class or worry about emergencies anymore.\" The discrete nature of the kits has been particularly appreciated, allowing students to maintain their dignity while accessing necessary supplies.\r\n\r\nCurrent Usage and Impact\r\nWe've integrated these care kits seamlessly into our school support system. Our school nurse, the student support team, and I maintain a supply in their offices, and trusted female teachers keep kits readily available. Students know they can discreetly request a kit when needed, and the process has become normalized and comfortable. Recently, a student who received a kit told me she could help a friend who unexpectedly needed supplies during an after-school activity. This peer support network that has organically developed shows how the project is fostering both practical support and emotional solidarity among our students.\r\n\r\nLooking Ahead\r\nAs we move forward, we're working on creating a sustainable system to maintain our supply of care kits throughout the school year. We're also developing a peer mentoring program where older students can help younger ones learn about personal care and hygiene in a supportive, judgment-free environment. The confidence these kits have given our students extends beyond just having access to necessary supplies—it's creating a supportive community where our young women feel valued and cared for.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has not only provided essential items. Still, it has also helped create an environment where our students can focus on their education without anxiety or embarrassment about basic personal care needs.","fullyFundedDate":1727016746484,"projectUrl":"project/empowerher-discreet-care-kits-for-conf/8726553/","projectTitle":"“EmpowerHer: Discreet Care Kits for Confident Young Women”","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Watkins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8077367"},{"teacherId":2374139,"projectId":5666852,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, reading in our classroom has become an engaging, joyful, and thought-provoking experience. With the new books, students aren't just reading—they're discussing, questioning, and connecting course content to their own lives and the world around them.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading isn't silent or solitary. It's vibrant and interactive. We begin with group discussions to activate background knowledge, then dive into the text with guiding questions and annotation strategies. Students often work in pairs or small groups, to relate the material to real-world experiences. These conversations spark insight and build confidence in students who previously felt unsure about learning the content.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially blossomed with the arrival of these new books. One student, who rarely participated in class discussions before, has now become more engaged, as the books have helped her understanding of the material. Another student, who had struggled with answering practice test questions, has started to do much better since utilizing the practice in the review books.\r\n\r\nThese stories happen every day because of your kindness. It allowed my scholars to engage with a text both in and outside of school. Not every scholar has access to books outside of school and this allowed them the opportunity to begin building their at home library. \r\n\r\nWith this book we were able to explore the concepts of false information, standing up for what's right, and what education for girls looks like across the world. My scholars were shocked to learn that it's common in some cultures for girls to get married young and to not attend school. It took them a while to understand that education is not always treated as a right in certain areas of the world, but it was a worthwhile lesson as I believe it made them appreciate their education more.\r\n\r\nIn addition to what I detailed above we were able to have a class discussion that allowed them to explore their thoughts and questions together as a class. My goal with this discussion was to allow it to be a scholar led space versus the scholars relying on me to answer all of their questions.","fullyFundedDate":1674650169551,"projectUrl":"project/personal-copy-of-i-am-malala/7139333/","projectTitle":"Personal Copy of I Am Malala.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8932160_orig.png?crop=380,380,x39,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752725316226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8932160"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98360","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":466,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":97,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.7,"schoolId":98360,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women 348 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women 348","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/baltimore-city-public-school-district/leadership-school-young-women-348/98360"}
