Our slushie machine has become much more than a piece of equipment. It is an educational tool filled with wonder, discovery, and responsibility.\r\nAs students watch the slushie mixture change, they make predictions, ask questions, and discuss how long it will take for the liquid to become a frozen solid. They collaborate with their classmates, share observations, and make meaningful connections to science concepts.\r\nThe project is also helping our students develop positive classroom habits. Throughout the week, they work toward being kind, responsible, and focused members of our community. Our Level Three students demonstrate leadership by monitoring the machine and serving the class each Friday.\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are learning that science can be exciting, hands-on, and delicious! Mo Willems' books are beloved by almost everyone in our building, but especially by our youngest community members. New copies of these sets feel so special for our pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and early elementary students, especially as our other copies are so well-loved. \r\n\r\nAccess to silly, engaging, and expertly written text helps bring the skill of reading into a child's orbit, and makes the learning feel like play.
