On the first day of our crochet club, I took out the bins with yarn and hooks, and told the students that all of these things were donated. One of my students responded, \"Really, they just gave us them?\" Not only did you allow for 15 very eager kids to learn to crochet, but you have also taught them what it means to give back. \r\n\r\nEvery Monday, our club meets for an hour after school. Each time we build on the skills we learned the week before. The yarn and hooks are currently being used to practice and learn stitches. A couple of student may start working on making a hat this coming week. It is so joyful every time a student gets something as they light up in an \"aha\" moment. \r\n\r\nIt is hard to convey how much happiness you have brought to these students. Even when they struggle with a skill, they don't give up! Many of them stop me in the hallway throughout the week to tell me they are excited for next week.
