This rug has provided my students with a welcoming, comfortable space where they can gather, collaborate, and learn together. We are using our new rug as a gathering place for math mini-lessons, science discussions and investigations, and social studies lessons. It gives students a special place to come together, share their thinking, ask questions, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new rug, they were excited to have a special space of their own! They were eager to gather on it and make it part of our classroom routine. Seeing their excitement reminded me how even a simple resource can make a meaningful difference in creating a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, connected, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using this space for hands-on learning and collaborative activities across our subject areas. In math, students will gather to work through challenging problems, explain their strategies, and compare different ways to find solutions. In science, we will use the space to introduce new topics, make predictions, and discuss our observations. In social studies, students will gather to explore historical events, discuss important ideas, and connect what we learn to the world around us.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given our classroom more than just a rug. It has helped create a welcoming space where students can build confidence, share ideas, and grow as learners together. We are using them in two classrooms. For our reading folders and workbooks. Also, when students switch to another room for math, science, and social studies they are able to use the mailboxes. Students are not losing papers, folders, or notebooks during the day. They are also not missing instruction by leaving the room to go to their lockers to get their supplies for class. \r\n\r\nWe appreciate all the donors that helped us get organized and ready for instruction. Students helped put numbers on the mailboxes so they could tell which mailbox was theirs. Through the characters and their experiences, students learn important lessons about friendship, kindness, empathy, loneliness, and accepting others. The story encourages meaningful conversations while keeping students excited and engaged in reading.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, finishing an entire chapter book is a huge accomplishment. Some have never been able to say, \"I read a whole chapter book!\" before. Having their own copy to hold, follow along with, and discuss with their classmates helps build their confidence and shows them that they really can be successful readers.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this book helps students discover that reading can be something they truly enjoy.
