The new sensory tools, academic materials, and social-emotional resources have helped each of my students grow in confidence, focus, and independence.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious! My students were eager to explore everything, but one moment that really stood out was when a student sat down with our new social-emotional puzzle for the first time. The puzzle teaches how to take turns, share, and talk to friends—skills that can be challenging but are so important. They're so engaged in the activity that they don't even realize how much they're learning.\r\nThank you for making this possible. The students instantly wanted to help open the boxes and check out the new seats. One student even started jumping up and down while clapping and laughing! To see the joy on their faces was priceless! The students wanted to sit on the blue rockers as soon as we pulled them out of the box. Once everything was opened and unpacked, we carried them over to the whole group carpet to begin our morning meeting. Everyone wanted to try each different seating option. As the week went on, certain students preferred the rockers and some wanted the hug chair. The students are now sitting and attending to the whole group lesson for the entire time frame instead of getting up to leave the designated area. The simple act of rocking in the chair or having the hug chair fit snuggly around them has helped to meet the sensory needs of the students. One student has shown initiative by being responsible for putting out the seats every morning and stacks them away when we are done. \r\n\r\n The students love taking the wobble cushions to the small group tables while we are working on math or reading skills. One student even tried to bring his rocker and make it fit on his seat! \r\n\r\n It has been over a month since we have been using the new seating options and it is making such an impact, especially with their attention and to help them stay in their designated areas. Out of seat behaviors have decreased drastically and we are needing less prompts to stay in their areas.\r\n\r\n My students and I are truly appreciative of everyone's generosity. Having the small choice of seating options has been truly a gift.","fullyFundedDate":1726675825897,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-seating-for-success/8747406/","projectTitle":"Sensory Seating For Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taibi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9735088_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725730937562","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9735088"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64149","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":514,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.3,"schoolId":64149,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brock Bridge Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brock Bridge Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/anne-arundel-county-public-schools/brock-bridge-elementary-school/64149"}
