They built robots with wheels, programmed them to run a square by using a repeat block. Some students went further and programmed an ultrasonic sensor to \"see\" and stop a certain distance away, and use a robotic arm to pull a block back 20 cm. A few students had enough time to learn about light sensors and were able to get the robot to stop at a red line, and follow a red line. \r\n\r\nNext the grade 5 students will be able to work on a 5-week self-paced project! I selected books that my students have not read, and we have been drumming up excitement for our historical fiction unit when they'll finally be able to read!\r\n\r\nDuring historical book clubs, students will research the time and the place in their books, create time lines, and finish off with projects they present to the class. It's one of our last reading units of the year, and students love working with partners.
