These resources have helped me create a classroom where learning doesn't always mean sitting at a desk with a worksheet. My students have been able to build, create, investigate, read, work together, and take their learning outdoors.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts has been watching students use our materials during hands-on projects. We have taken our learning outside for nature observations and art, completed STEM building challenges, and started our classroom sourdough project, where students are learning about fermentation, measurement, observation, and the science behind something as simple as bread. The excitement is completely different when they get to actually do what we are learning about.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, the students were incredibly excited. They immediately wanted to know what everything was for and what we were going to make and explore. It gave them a sense that this classroom belonged to them, too.\r\n\r\nNext, we are continuing to build on our outdoor and place-based learning. Students will be learning about our town, county, state, and region while studying Maine's landforms and natural environment. We'll continue connecting science, social studies, reading, writing, and art through projects that allow students to explore the place where they live.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students more than classroom supplies. It has helped me create a space where kids can be curious, creative, messy, outdoors, and excited about learning. I am incredibly grateful that you helped make that possible for them. The children absolutely love the sheets for their rest mats. They say the mats are so comfy and cozy. \r\n\r\nTeachers think that we are having an easier time keeping the mats clean. We also think the children are way more comfortable.\r\n\r\nWe would not have the comfort and coziness without all of you. This was certainly a luxury that I could not put into my yearly budget, but something I have wanted the children to have for their comfort. \r\n\r\nI am also glad that a fellow teacher told me about Donorschoose.
