Your generosity has given my students the tools they need to become more confident and independent writers. We are using the new writing supplies, finger spacers, student notebooks, and handwriting materials every day. The finger spacers have been especially helpful as students practice leaving spaces between words, while the sight word and handwriting activities give them opportunities to build important foundational skills. Having their own notebooks has also made writing feel more meaningful and special to them—they are excited to see their ideas and progress on the pages.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw all of the new materials, they were eager to get started and loved having resources that were specifically for them. During our writing practice, students use finger spacers to help form complete sentences, practice sight words, and work on letter formation and handwriting. I also use the teacher writing resources to plan lessons and provide activities that meet each student's individual needs. It has been wonderful to see students who may have been hesitant to write become more willing to try, knowing they have the tools and support to be successful.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building these foundational writing skills and encourage students to become increasingly independent writers. We will keep practicing sight words, handwriting, spacing, sentence formation, and putting our ideas into our notebooks. As their confidence grows, students will begin using these skills to write longer sentences and share their own ideas and stories.
