The floor seats were immediately claimed during independent reading and small group work, and the flex bands on the chairs and desks quickly became favorites for students who focus better when they can move a little while working. The standing desk has also been a great addition, especially for students who do their best work when they aren't sitting for long periods.\r\n\r\nInstead of seating being \"assigned,\" students are learning to recognize what helps them stay focused, calm, and productive during different parts of the day. That ownership has made a real difference in both engagement and classroom community.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the new resources daily during reading and independent work times. These resources have helped create a classroom that feels more flexible, comfortable, and student-centered, and I'm so grateful to everyone who helped make that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1778156653512,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-focused-sixth-grade/10190611/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Focused Sixth Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stevens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2838015_orig.jpg?crop=3023,3024,x0,y100&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753408148281","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melanie-stevens"},{"teacherId":2838015,"projectId":9628096,"letterContent":"When our new tetherball set arrived, the excitement on our students' faces was priceless! They could hardly wait to see it set up so they could start playing. For many of them, this was one of their favorite recess activities, and it immediately sparked curiosity, teamwork, and laughter on the playground.\r\n\r\nAt recess, our 5th and 6th-graders now have a fun and engaging way to connect with each other. Before, some students struggled to find ways to join in or didn't know how to interact positively during free time. The tetherball has given them one more structured, inclusive activity that encourages turn-taking, friendly competition, and communication.\r\n\r\nIt's been wonderful to watch students who might not have played together before cheering each other on and teaching one another the rules. Something as simple as a tetherball has truly transformed our recess environment. Students are more active, cooperative, and happy to play together.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping us create a more positive and connected recess experience.
