October was the most magical month ever thanks to you! My second grade students have been absolutely fascinated with American folk songs. Whether it is \"This Land is Your Land\", \"Tideo\", \"Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree\" or \"Dem Bones\", they just can't seem to get enough. They sing with enthusiasm, heart and passion. I really wish you could hear them too!\r\n With the addition of the two xylophones, the students can now accompany themselves with ostinato patterns and/or arpeggios. This has helped them to maintain a steady beat, zero in on their harmony and take ownership of their musical learning. And this is just the second grade! Our kindergarten and first grade students improvised their own fossil music based on the piece 'Fossils\" from Carnival of the Animals, just in time for Halloween! Next up, composing melodies using quarter notes, eighth notes and rests.\r\n Thank you for supporting imagination and play through music education.
