Because of your donations, our classroom is now stocked with essential food and basic care items that many of our students rely on each day. These resources are making a meaningful difference. Students enter class calmer, more focused, and ready to learn because their immediate needs are being met. This is a crucial aspect of every classroom that is often overlooked, and we appreciate your willingness to accommodate our needs!\r\n\r\nOur school serves a low-income community, and last year I covered these items out of my own pocket. With the rising cost of living, continuing to do so simply wasn't sustainable, and your support arrived at exactly the right time! I am deeply grateful, and so are my students. Your kindness has not only eased a burden on me, but has also given my students the dignity, comfort, and stability they need to thrive in the classroom. These items have allowed me to start the school year off with an organized classroom. This is essential to getting a year that has been sort of chaotic off to a good start. We all know that having a cluttered space can impact the way we feel about the space and how we interact with it so creating homes for things like missed work or reference sheets has helped to create habits that allow for independence. My students can come into the classroom after being out and find their missing work. It also means that when they need to remember the algorithm for something we are working on (solving equations when there is a variable on both sides of the equal sign, for instance) they don't need to wait for me to be done helping another student and can find the reference booklet that walks them through that. \r\nSnacks are another important thing to have in the classroom. My students often don't have the ability to bring their own food to school and many of them rely on having breakfast and lunch at school. But that means if they get hungry throughout the day, they don't have anything with them to help ease that hunger. It is hard to learn when you are hungry! I can't control what happens outside of school, but I can help them feel more comfortable in the classroom. \r\nFidget bands and spinners allow students who struggle with focusing to have something that they can utilize that is harder to become a toy. Lots of fidgets quickly become toys, even in high school, and playing with toys means they aren't paying attention to learning.\r\nOne of the most often asked questions I get is, \"why do we need this?\" Using gears helps students buy into the activity because many of my students have interest in engines and having a hands-on activity where they can use the gears to build something and still talk about proportions and fractions and division, helps them understand why they may need this in the future.\r\nThank you for supporting my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755898216899,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-start-to-the-school-year/9494062/","projectTitle":"Fresh Start to the School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wescott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7755551"},{"teacherId":10056221,"projectId":9413507,"letterContent":"My students have just started back to school but they have enjoyed the sensory toys and snacks. \r\n\r\nToday in class we used the magnetic sticky notes to discuss job interests and to complete math work. \r\n\r\nLater in the year my students will use the planter support sticks to plant a garden and learn how to tend to and grow veggies successfully. \r\n\r\nThrough out the year student will use the kitchen supplies to learn how to cook food that will help them be independent adults. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your donations to support this project.","fullyFundedDate":1750217914628,"projectUrl":"project/life-skills-for-students-in-need/9413507/","projectTitle":"Life Skills for Students in Need","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wilbur","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10056221"},{"teacherId":2014363,"projectId":8624380,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your support of our students, and their outdoor learning, last year.
