I was able to have students receive copies of their favorite series to cherish for 2-3 weeks at a time. These books were returned to school at the end of the year and are being enjoyed by other second grader readers as well. The collection of books have been a wonderful addition to our classroom library. The students even wrote letters to local organizations in hopes of getting funding for even more books.\r\nOne of the best impacts we saw were people stepping up to \"sponsor a student\" for the year. For a $20 donation per student, we were able to purchase and distribute a new book for each student to keep every month of our school year. The spirit of giving is alive!
