Everything we got from the donors choose is being well loved daily by my students and myself. \r\n\r\nI have to start by telling you about the light covers. I have had light covers up for a few years now. It helps with students who have sensory sensitivities as well as anyone who the harsh florescent lights affects. When I first ordered them, I was only able to get green ones. Which were good, but also casted a strange green glow in the classroom. When the new light covers came in, our after school custodian and I put them up immediately. She even loved them! I was so excited to see the students reactions the next morning. And it was a huge hit! The sunsets are nice and cast a soft pink glow in the classroom (which is my favorite color- as well as most of my students!) But what they loved the most and was perfect timing for state testing are the ones with inspirational messages on them! They absolutely went nuts when they saw the change in the room! \r\n\r\nNext we introduced the breathing pals! These have been so helpful in stressful situations. We practice our breathing weekly (and for some daily). Taking a calming breath can help so much, and when you are only 9 a visual is a great reminder. Paired with our weighted cow friend (named Jimmy Pickles) everyone can take a moment to relax. \r\n\r\nThe writing pads have also been a big help! We are doing cursive for the first time in years. And being able to practice with the writing pads has helped our handwriting! The students love being able to use these for grammar and handwriting. What used to be a dreaded subject has been made fun with the rainbow writing!","fullyFundedDate":1758821797705,"projectUrl":"project/sensorysocial-emotional-learning/9608819/","projectTitle":"Sensory/Social Emotional Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DeSilva","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8958411_orig.jpg?crop=750,750,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690837074859","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8958411"},{"teacherId":9078455,"projectId":8985123,"letterContent":"We wish we could find the adequate words to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation toward our speech therapy furniture. Our fellow teachers were also excited to poke their heads in to take a peek at what your generous contributions helped us to achieve!
