My students and I are truly humbled by your kindness and the care you've shown for our classroom community.\r\n\r\nYour support will make a meaningful difference in so many ways. The food you helped secure will ease the worries of students who struggle with food security at home, giving them the comfort of knowing their basic needs are met. The fidgets you provided will help them stay focused and engaged during lessons, and the toiletries will ensure they have access to the everyday essentials that so many of us take for granted.\r\n\r\nMy students come from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds, and home situations and each of them carries their own unique challenges. Because of your generosity, they will be able to spend more time concentrating on their learning and less time worrying about what they don't have once they leave school.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to support them, to see them, and to invest in their well-being. I like to come up with creative ways to assess them besides just using tests and quizzes. The students in my Earth Science class learned about the differences between Astronomical Seasons and Meteorological Seasons by making models. They were able to choose from a number of media, including art and digital media. Our new foldable work table became an art table where they could use different paints, glue, papers and other materials to make a mess while creating their models. It worked out for me, because when this class was not meeting, I was able to easily tuck the table and materials out of the way in our small classroom space. \r\n\r\nMy students were excited at the prospect of using art to make their models to show off their understanding of the different types of seasons. It was exciting to see them get excited and want to dive right in to the project. \r\n\r\nI may be going on medical leave later this year, but I still have plans for future uses for the table. I would like to see my Earth Science class make home made barometers and keep track of barometric pressure. The table will come in handy, because I can keep the table out of the way of my other classes bumping it around. We do not have a window, so in biology, I want to do some experiments with growing seeds under artificial lights. I love how versitile the table is, and that it can be folded and tucked away easily when it is not in use. My students and I very much appreciate it.","fullyFundedDate":1728844982162,"projectUrl":"project/new-science-lab-table-needed-to-increase/8874715/","projectTitle":"New Science Lab Table Needed to Increase Student Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nadeau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1650921_orig.jpg?crop=1433,1433,x793,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726782809326","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-nadeau"},{"teacherId":9570250,"projectId":8660036,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your help in funding this project and bringing it to life. My students are slowly but surely integrating math play into their routines, cultivating resilience to phone addiction, and socializing to build life-long learning skills.\r\n\r\nIn this inaugural project, I have been so impressed by the openness of many students to embrace these routines and materials. I have seen several students who may not have sat with certain peers jump into games with them and join in on fun, which at this age can be an act of courage, but is also an act of community building.\r\n\r\nI have also been brainstorming ways to better integrate these materials into future classes and units and how to expand and improve upon my initial concept. All of this has only been possible thanks to your donations and your belief in my idea and ability to execute it. A huge part of that is thanks to awesome donors (YOU) who have helped stock my classroom with the things it needs for students to bring their best selves. Students have loved having a self-care center with hair ties, tissues, hand lotion, and many other things that keep them taken care of.\r\n\r\nThis has been such a successful system that I have off-block students (and even past students!) dropping by to get a hair tie and share about their weekend, grab some lotion and talk about the school year, and even bring a friend along in a time of need. This has been amazing not only for my students to feel more comfortable, but it has also surprisingly been great for relationship building. It has shown many students that I/we see them for more than their academic work. Beyond that, it has served as a defacto 'water cooler' around which we can connect, share, and talk.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity in helping me bring this back in full swing this year.
