They did not know that they could enjoy the story line in graphic novel format, and once introduced to this idea grabbed the books up. \r\n\r\nWe were also able to purchase the first six books in a popular manga series that several of our students watch. These students will not read a traditional book, but love the graphic novel format. The books have not been in the library, they have been constantly checked out with students reading them. These students love how the pictures and text boxes, along with the story line that mirrors the shows they watch, help them be successful readers. \r\n\r\nThanks you for helping our students be successful and become more literate students. These skills and self confidence will translate into their later academic careers and adult choices.","fullyFundedDate":1741039540737,"projectUrl":"project/let-me-read-graphically/9130741/","projectTitle":"Let Me Read Graphically","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3212861"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65683","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":185,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":8,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":70.9,"schoolId":65683,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Woodland Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Woodland Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/aos-90/woodland-junior-senior-high-school/65683"}
