I teach speech therapy to kids from 4 years of age to the 12th grade so the surprises all varied. The interactive toys we received were awesome. I wish I had parent permission to take the kids pictures to show you the joy on my little head start kids faces when they were playing. I had to promise over and over that I would bring the toys back for the next session because they didn't want to leave to go back to class. \r\nThe higher grade kids that are struggling with vocabulary the word ladder books were excellent. Even though the middle school kids are working on 2-3rd grade material that are struggling they are still learning and trying to bridge that gap. \r\nWe would all like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts how grateful we are for your generosity and funding our project. Without people like you my kids would miss out on all these things that you as donors have provide them. Because of your donation, my students—many of whom face economic hardships—have access to essential school supplies like highlighters, calculators, and headphones. These items may seem simple, but they have made a world of difference in helping my students feel prepared, confident, and engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have been beneficial. Many of my students use them for educational software, reading programs, and to listen to calming music during independent work time. This has helped improve focus and reduce distractions in our classroom. Calculators have made math less intimidating for those who struggle, allowing them to solve problems more efficiently and build confidence in their abilities. Highlighters are being used to strengthen reading comprehension and note-taking skills, especially for students with learning differences who benefit from visual supports.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is knowing that they have the tools they need to succeed—just like everyone else. Some of my more reserved students have really opened up when given the chance to earn incentives like snack rewards or play educational games with their new supplies. One student in particular, who rarely participated before, has been thriving during math lessons now that he can use his own calculator. He even volunteers to help his classmates now! These small changes have had a big impact on their confidence and motivation.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Your kindness has created a more inclusive and encouraging learning environment, and I am so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1664847220179,"projectUrl":"project/weapons-for-success/6798703/","projectTitle":"Weapons for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erika","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7890292"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16835","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":300,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":58,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.6,"schoolId":16835,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about St Martinville Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"St Martinville Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/st-martin-parish-school-district/st-martinville-junior-high-school/16835"}
