Math manipulatives like a number line makes math more tangible for my students who have learning disabilities in math computation, especially when negative numbers are being introduced. The manipulatives will be used throughout the year to assist with new math material such as combining like terms and factoring algebraic equations. For example, the factoring triangle manipulative can be used to cover over greatest common factors. Number tiles can be used for students to construct algebraic equation and solve two step equations in a more tangible way than memorizing rules and applying them to a piece of paper.
